Early in the morning of 12/20/09 Companies 4 and 2 responded to Cox Road for a fully involved structure fire. Due to the winter storm, some units of Company 4 had been on duty for 36 hours, but were quickly on scene and had the fire under control in about ten minutes. Despite the quick knock-down the building was a total loss. Engine 4 was the first in unit with Tanker 4 only seconds behind. Engine 2 arrived later with a supply of water. There were no injuries despite the weakened flooring and compromised masonry walls.

We would like to thank the Dinwiddie Sherriff’s Deputies on scene before our arrival. They had the forethought to mark the snow covered driveway with flares. This allowed Engine 4 to access the property quickly.
